Although tube amplification and vinyl playback represent 100 year old technology, many believe the sound quality of modern day digital and solid-state electronics simply cannot compete.
Wednesday April 23rd at 7 pm, Stereo Exchange in New York City will host the industries leading experts and demonstrate state-of-the-art equipment drawing from these classic concepts.
Our featured products include the critically acclaimed Rogers PA-1A Tube Phono Preamplifier, VPI’s new Classic Direct Drive Turntable, Rogers outrageously good EHF-200 MK2 tube Integrated amplifier, the classic VPI Aries and Traveler Turntables, and Rogers EHF-100 tube integrated amplifier. To demonstrate their full potential, we will match them with Totem Acoustics Element Metal and Signature Forest loudspeakers connected with Transparent Audio Reference cabling.
Guest speakers include Vince Bruzzese:Totem Acoustics, Harry Weisfeld: VPI, Roger Gibboni: Rogers High Fidelity, and Michael Fremer: Stereophile magazine and Bill Peugh of Transparent Audio.
To celebrate this event, Stereo Exchange will offer special sale pricing on all featured products. Additionally, bonus trade in dollars will be available for your high-end equipment towards the purchase of Rogers, VPI, Totem or Transparent products.
Space limited so please RSVP soon to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The EHF-200 oozes style. From the amp’s carbon fiber and rhodium speaker binding posts to the finely machined controls, it’s clear that the amount of thought that went into this product is indeed high. Every aspect of the EHF-200 operates with extreme silence, from the subtle clicking of the volume attenuator to the switching back and forth between triode and ultralinear modes.
VPI produced a superior design by using fundamentally sound engineering coupled with innovative applications of new technologies. By bringing together a team of engineers and companies with proven track records of engineering achievements, VPI has established a new level of performance in turntables that reach the limits of analog technology. The revolutionary design, the ground breaking direct drive system, the most accurate speed control achieved to date, the outstanding industrial design; the list goes on and on.
Analog performance to ultimate perfection has always been the standard at Rogers High Fidelity. The newest performer, the PA-1A Phono Preamplifier follows the Rogers' heritage in every detail. You have not heard your record collection until you have heard it being played through the Rogers High Fidelity PA-1A Phono Preamplifier.
The new VPI Aries 3 is the ultimate revision of the Aries. The platter and bearing are sourced from the HR-X, the chassis is modeled after the Triple-Plinth Design of the HR-X making the Aries 3 the best looking Aries to date! With a 5/8” thick layer of aluminum sandwiched between two layers of 5/8” acrylic, the Aries 3 is very quiet and exceptionally inert.
The EHF-100's build quality is excellent—impressively so, given its relative affordability in the context of other US-made tube amplifiers. Every component is hand-wired, most by means of silver-plated hookup wire and thick, clean tag boards.
The Traveler is partially based on all the progress VPI made with its award-winning Classic turntables. The new 24V AC motor, now situated in the left rear, is powered by a DC supply that regenerates to a perfect 24V at exactly 60Hz for incredible speed stability. It’s perfectly tuned for vibration-free performance, allowing the Traveler to deliver much better speed stability and tremendous bottom-end control.
The new Element woofers used in this series are not only built in-house but deviate substantially from any usual woofer manufacturing. Firstly, they have an extreme precision-machined chassis, rather than a molded or stamped one. Each driver actually requires 3 hours of machining and 4-hours plus of assembly and testing. This allows for precision usually associated with watch making, not standard woofer manufacturing.
The Forest Signature is at once a celebration and culmination of the Forest evolution. From its inception, the Forest became an enduring favorite amongst true audiophiles. The new Forest Signature is a transcendent upgrade in every aspect, from its critical components to final acoustic performance. It offers unparalleled musicality and spatial imaging while faithfully rendering subtleness and attack/decay harmonics.
The precision and transparency of Reference RCA Interconnects will bring years of listening enjoyment and will reveal all the performance potential of better RCA source components. In addition to using carefully prescribed network components for each specific length of Reference RCA Interconnect, Transparent calibrates and matches Reference networks to suit a specific range of system component characteristics
Reference Speaker Cable transfers bass energy down through the bottom octave with amazing accuracy and creates a quiet interface between some of the most challenging speaker and amplifier combinations.
Transparent Phono interconnects to suit each specific system set up with RCA, DIN or XLR connections. Cables fitted with the custom Transparent DIN connector have a contoured coupler to create a smooth transition between cable and termination, and are offered with two methods of strain relief to keep the weight of the cable from affecting the performance of your turntable and tonearm system.Transparent DIN couplers are offered with two methods of strain relief to keep the weight of the cable from affecting the performance of your turntable and tonearm system.
Vince Bruzzese of Totem Acoustics will discuss designing loudspeakers to work with tube electronics.
"For over 25 years now, Vince Bruzzese ensures that Totem stays true to its initial mission. Founded in 1987, Totem initially strove to achieve an identity not overly compromised by market pressures and after two years of unconventional research released the now legendary Model-1. Over the years, additional monitors were added to the line. Sequentially, column speakers further made an enormous impact.
Evolutionary, special signature versions of the Model-1 and the Mani-2 have also joined the fray. Then the center speakers were added for home theater functions, as well as the sub-woofers and the in-wall Mask speakers. In the last few years with the advent of the Tribe on-walls and in-walls, world references in their category, and precision in the Inner Spirit in-wall, Totem is setting new standards in architectural type units. Always a trendsetter in creation, Totem offers now stunning colors with the Design Series."
Harry Weisfeld of VPI will discuss analog vinyl playback and cutting-edge turntable design.
For more than thirty-eight years, Harry Weisfeld, has been one of the driving forces behind high-end analog playback in the United States. Weisfeld’s turntable and cleaning machine designs have received more than three dozen awards from leading audio enthusiast publications around the globe and what started as a small record cleaning machine business in 1978, is now one of the leading manufacturers of high-end turntables and cleaning machines in the world with more than 150 dealers in forty countries.
Roger Gibboni of Rogers High Fidelity will discuss how to build bullet proof tube electronics that sound wonderful.
"For more than 20 years, Roger Gibboni has led highly effective engineering and manufacturing teams that deliver results. Roger has spent his professional career designing and manufacturing high tech communications and radar equipment for the Department of Defense, NASA and several other agencies with demanding communications and engineering requirements. Roger brings this high quality engineering and manufacturing expertise to the home audio market when he founded Rogers High Fidelity in 2009. Roger graduated from Drexel University in 1981 with a major in Electrical Engineering. He has graduate degrees in electrical engineering and business."
Michael Fremer of Stereophile magazine will demonstrate proper turntable setup.
Michael Fremer is a contributing editor to many high-end magazines on audio equipment including Stereophile and Analog Planet. A self-described, "vinyl record expert, audio critic, music reviewer, foodie, political junkie, late, lamented Saab lover," he currently has two brilliantly funny and informative DVDs out on proper Vinyl care and set-up.
